Shaw Air Force Base, South Carolina Military Homecoming | Crammer Family

This little family will always have a special place in my heart. When Natalie asked me to photograph her Homecoming, of course, I had to say yes! Not only is she one of my close friends, she is also another local photographer in the Sumter area! (Sorry everyone, she is currently taking a hiatus, and not booking currently). Because of this, I knew that is was going to be a breeze - outfits coordinated, her house beautifully decorated - what I didn't anticipate is all of the raw emotion. Dates were changed, times were pushed back, but after 199 days, he is finally back!

Thank you always, for your service, Jack! And once again, Welcome Home!

Love Reunited | Air Force Homecoming Photographer : Shaw AFB, South Carolina

Being stationed here at Shaw AFB, I have seen many-a-deployment. While it's hard to think that you'll be missing a loved one for x-amount of months (or years), Homecomings always bring me a sense of joy and pride. That first embrace with your husband after not touching for what seems like an eternity can not be topped by anything. I always loved seeing families reunited for the first time. Photographing them, I get choked up. every. single.  time.

Over the course of four days, I photographed the return of 14 of the United States' deadliest Airmen. These shoots included every obstacle a photographer can think of : changes in returns, days getting pushed back, rain clouds looming overhead, a 3 AM showtime! I can only imagine what was going on in the heads of the loved ones eagerly waiting for the return.

Thank you, Shooters, for trusting me to capture these heartwarming moments. And as always, thank you for your service!

The photos shown below are just a small example of why I do what I do...

They set up a shaving station to get off those mustaches as soon as they got off the jets!

Special thanks to Christy of Studio 9 Photography and Jennifer of BellaGrace Photography for helping me out!
